We currently have two vacancies; we're seeking a Soft Fruit Breeder as well as a Rural Business Enterprise Manager to work with us in making an impact through science!
We're recruiting a Rural Business Enterprise Manager to work closely with the existing work programmes and teams within the Social Economic & Geographical Sciences (SEGS) department of the James Hutton Institute.
The Rural Business Enterprise Manager will help design, inform, consult with, and develop novel ‘green’ businesses associated with infrastructure present at the James Hutton Institute. The position holder will bring their experience in green business to identify how the capacities of the James Institute (both built and human capital) can foster synergistic business opportunities for external private entities.
We're also seeking a new member of our soft fruit breeding team.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our research & plant breeding team, benefiting from & contributing to the world-renowned work of the James Hutton Institute, as a Soft Fruit Breeder / Trials Manager. The successful applicant will lead commercially-funded breeding programmes for blackcurrants and redcurrants, with the ultimate goal of developing commercially viable varieties and also,manage trials of other soft fruits, both in the field and protected cropping.
