Deadline Day | James Hutton Limited Announce Signing of Eva Chatzaki

James Hutton Limited appoint Eva Chatzaki as Crops Trial Manager

James Hutton Limited are delighted to welcome Eva Chatzaki to the team.

Eva joins us in a brand-new role as our Crop Trials Manager. This will be deeply varied role, combining being hands-on out in the field monitoring how crop trials are performing whilst also engaging with stakeholders across a wide range projects. Eva will also collaborate closely with James Hutton Institute scientists on trial planning and performance.

With a background in biology but a keen interest in agriculture, Eva chose to specialise in plant pathology and entomology as a pathway into this career field. Initially from Greece - she moved to the UK in 2016 for an internship here at the James Hutton Institute. Upon completing her internship, she moved to working in field trials related to Agri chemicals. She has since become an accomplished soft fruit agronomist with variety trials incorporated into the role during her time at Angus Soft Fruits.

Eva was drawn to returning to James Hutton, due to the specific role that was on offer and the responsibility that that would entail. This includes engagement with all sorts of crop trials that are contracted here at JHL which will mean a huge variation within her work. Although this will be challenging, Eva has expressed she is excited as this could be anything from fundamental research to variety trials to other commercial trials.

As she shapes the role, Eva is looking forward to putting her extensive background of trialling, academic research, commercial research and her previous exposure of working with different types of crops to ensure that trials happening here are of a very high-quality standard. Eva has experience of ORETO accredited trials - an area that she is keen to bring to JHL.

Jonathan Snape, Head of James Hutton Limited commented: “We are delighted to secure the services of Eva in this exciting new position. As we continue to grow it is essential that we attract talented people and in Eva, that is certainly the case. We are excited for her to get started and the team are looking forward to working with her."

On joining Eva said “I am absolutely thrilled to be back at James Hutton, my experience with them shortly after I arrived in the UK was a warm one and once the role was advertised I jumped at the chance to come back. I am looking forward to working with the team and growing the excellent service that we offer our customers. I am also keen to develop relationships with James Hutton Institute scientists to see how I could help them in future trials.”

Eva will be based predominantly in at our site in Invergowrie.

We are delighted to have Eva and her wealth of experience join the team!
