Investment in New Equipment

James Hutton Limited has invested in several new analytical instruments to support our position as a partner laboratory in the new Interreg ERDF project, Water Test Network. The additional instrumentation, all brand new, gives the analytical team at James Hutton Institute laboratories access to a further variety of techniques to fulfil the analytical requirements of clients in the water industry and in other industries too.

Water Test Network

James Hutton Limited is delighted to be one of seven European partners in this European Regional Development Fund Interreg project which provides SMEs in North-West Europe with funding and resources to test, develop and validate new products for the water sector. The official launch event of Water Test Network is in Brussels on 11/12 and all NWE business support organisations, innovation/cluster agencies, regional development agencies, government & water sector networks are invited.

Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards 2019 – Call for Nominations Now Open

Do you know an individual/company/organisation that has made a major contribution to the development of the life sciences sector in Scotland over the last 12 months? If so, nominations are now open for Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards 2019.

New Genetic Marker to Identify Potential EPH Non-Producing Barley Varieties

A new, improved genetic marker that can be used by barley breeders to unequivocally identify potential Epiheterodendrin (EPH) non-producing barley varieties at the earliest stages of the breeding process has emerged from a project between International Barley Hub researchers at the James Hutton Institute and the Scotch Whisky Research Institute.

Congratulations to Dr Peter Orrell

Congratulations to Peter Orrell, a member of the James Hutton Limited team, who completed his PhD at the start of this year. In a first for the James Hutton Institute, the runner up prize at the Converge Challenge awards went to Peter, for his innovative business, MycoNourish.
