Earlier this month, two members of the Analytical Chemistry team at James Hutton Limited promoted and presented at the UK’s biggest leading contamination expo at the NEC in Birmingham.

Carol Curran (Research Scientist & Deputy Quality Manager) and Gareth Newman (Service Delivery Manager) showcased the range and versatility of our problem solving capabilities in contaminated land and they weren’t short of enquiries.

Carol Research Scientist & Deputy Quality Manager – is a specialist in Inorganic Analysis of soil and water and presented at the expo, speaking to attendees and fellow exhibitors. Drawing on her expertise in Environmental Analysis, she outlined the principles behind some of the analyses that we can offer and how they can support organisations world-wide.

Having visited last year, we were delighted to be back to showcase the world-class analytical chemistry services that we have available to offer businesses. We have a wide offering in this sector, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).

We also have specialists who operate in Soil Forensics, Soil Analysis and Quantitative Chemical Analysis.

Carol reflected, “Attending the Geotech and Contamination Expo was really interesting.  It was brilliant to meet people we could collaborate with and we’re delighted that we’ve already been able to help solve problems that other attendees were facing.”

Gareth continued “Having been busy throughout the entire COVID pandemic offering critical analyses, we’ve had to recruit more staff and expand our specialist equipment to meet the demand.

A key feature of our analytical chemistry offering is the integrated service that we have. Our teams work in collaboration to ensure that our clients get the full jig-saw, not just pieces of it. With that in mind, the Contamination & Geotech Expo has served us a great opportunity to showcase our talented team.”

James Hutton Limited offer a wide range of Analytical Chemistry services in collaboration with world-class scientists from The James Hutton Institute.
