Mylnefield Lipid Analysis recently undertook analysis to provide data for a clinical trial carried out by Belfast headquartered agri-food technology company, Devenish, and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland

In preparation for the trial where participants consumed chicken and eggs enriched with omega-3 from an algae-based source, Mylnefield Lipid Analysis analysed samples of chicken to ensure that they contained the desired levels of omega-3. 

Following consumption, the laboratory also analysed blood from participants for the fatty acid composition, including omega-3 fatty acids which were the focus of the trial.

Results of the trial indicate that there are health benefits from the regular consumption of chicken-meat and eggs which have been naturally enriched with algae-source omeg-3-PUFAs.  Read more about this fascinating study at www.feednavigator.com
